I’d Like to Discuss an Adjective

Intense (adj): very great, as in strength, keenness, or severity, acute, strong, vehement

The 5th chapter of Let Me Fall is about intensity and I’ve never been super thrilled by my writing in it. So today, I’ve been up to my elbows in some intense editing.

It’s a bit of a word blood-bath around here.

I shall leave you with some of my favorite opening chapter lines that were unfortunately skewered and removed from my body of work.

“The definition of intense packs a strong punch. If I were chewing intensity, it would melt the enamel right off my teeth, and then cling tenaciously when I tried to spit it out. If intensity was my shower cleaner, the body wash would surrender before it even had a chance to become soap scum. Intensity is Chuck Norris’ Sensei. Intensity is, well, intense.”
